American photographer Jessica Storm first started taking pictures of babies in a NICU when she was a volunteer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a nonprofit organisation that takes pictures of babies in hospital.

Jessica said that mums often miss out on taking pictures of their tiny infants when they are first born as they are too concerned about their health, which is where she comes in.

Talking to the Huffington Post, the Kansas based photographer said: "Documenting that, no matter how scary it feels in the moment, is something the parents tell me they treasure forever."

She added: "These babies are so incredibly precious and inspiring, what they have to put up with would make any grown person miserable."
