Real life stories from Mount Carmel: Lynne Finn, nervous first time mum

Hi, my name is Lynne Finn. I had my first baby, Emily Charlotte Finn in Mount Carmel on 02.09.12. Every aspect of my pregnancy to birth journey at Mount Carmel was a very calm and positive experience. The level of care was second to none. My consultant was Dr. Andrea Nugent who I would highly recommend. I was under the shared care package which meant my ante natal visits were shared between my consultant at Mount Carmel and my GP. I loved going in for all of my appointments especially the scans, the most exciting part! Every member of staff was so pleasant and always made me feel very excited about the days getting closer to the arrival of my baby.

 

I cannot say enough for the wonderful midwives who were with me and my husband during the labour and birth, Geraldine & Mary were so kind and supportive and really made a very nervous first time Mum feel so at ease.

I had so many fears and anxieties about labour and birth but for me it ended up as a very positive and dare I say enjoyable experience! They also made my husband feel very much involved which was really important to me as I had heard so many stories of husbands feeling like a bit of a "spare" but for is us it was the very opposite.

 

Dr Nugent who delivered Emily made me feel very calm and it so lovely to see her genuinely thrilled when Emily was born, even though I'm sure she had already delivered several babies that week. Emily and I were so well looked after during our 2 night stay by a wonderful team. I’d like to give a special mention to Maeve Anne, the lactation consultant who was so helpful and supportive during our breast feeding difficulties. The room was very comfortable and facilities excellent, the food was really good and catering staff could not have been nicer. I would highly recommend Mount Carmel to all and would love to return there someday for a little brother or sister for Emily who we adore.
