This week it’s been all about keeping my head above water

One would think after the glorious victory of last week that nothing could get in the way of this perpetual weight loss seeker.

Well one would be incorrect!

Professionally, I was given the honor of being chosen to pitch for a large advertising campaign for a big event next year. This, in essence, meant I had to come up with something creative and interesting that, if I was lucky, would make them pick me for the opportunity.

In my opinion, there is no point in holding back in this kind of situation. What’s the point in applying for a job and saying I have some great skills but I’m not going to tell you about them until you hire me?

So off I go with ideas, creative teams, kids, weight loss and deadlines. I’m not sure I even had time to use the toilet over the five days of preparation for the pitch.
It’s amazing how quickly we can change focus - in just one phone call I went from being all about the weight loss to being all about my pitch.
What I did try to keep up was exercising (for sanity really) and as much as possible, I ate protein when I was hungry.

During this week, sleep was a luxury so no food diary was kept, visualization went out the window and reading my book or listening to my CD weren’t options either. The protein bars really worked at keeping me full because it’s usually times like this I find myself comfort eating, particularly when working late at night.

With my head down, I attend my meeting with Diane. I feel ashamed and guilty and am sure I will be reprimanded.
‘Pop up on the scales’ says Diane after listening to my excuses of how busy my life has been, that really I just didn’t have the time – all the excuses that I am sure she hears many times a day.

Unbelievable! I’ve lost 1 lb and I am now 9 stone 13 lbs. I am actually under 10 stone for the first time since I started having babies.
I can’t believe it. Diane explains that I made all the right choices. When different parts of the program had to be sacrificed due to life and reality getting in the way, I could adapt and still manage to lose a little weight.

Off I go, motivated again. Skipping out the door 8 lbs lighter than when I first came into Motivation Weight Management four short weeks ago.
