Most of us have been paid; the end of January is nigh; and wonderful spring is just around the corner.

However, many of us are still clinging to our New Year’s resolutions, persisting in the myth that we are actually still keeping up our virtuous lifestyles. However, the evidence suggests otherwise.

If any of the following apply to you, it is time to face reality and enjoy life without the pain of giving up (at least until Lent anyway…):

1. You stopped using your Nutribullet after you cleaned it once
Yes, everyone said they were a cinch to maintain, so you invested in the magic blender and now it sits on your kitchen counter, taking up space and making you feel bad. Get rid of it and eat an apple.

2. You started running, until...
You realised it made you hot, uncomfortable, and bouncy in places you’d rather not bounce. Don’t give up; just slow down and take in your surroundings from the more comfortable pace of a gentle stroll.

3. You cut out carbs, but...
You became an irrational, bad-tempered crone with a pounding headache by 11am. Carbs get such a bad rap, yet we managed to live for millennia surviving on little else. Change the colour of your carbs from white to brown, and you’ll feel much better.

4. You decided to change your job, but...
Then you ralised that changing careers involves a lot more than just scanning a few jobs sites... And the thought of retraining/moving/self-promotion seems more trouble than it’s worth, so you decide to stay put—just for the moment.

5. You decided to stop nagging your children, until...
It became clear that this is a resolution beyond any mere mortal.
