10 reasons why applying sun cream on my child is the worst

I am well aware of the dangers of the sun and the importance of applying cream to my daughter’s delicate skin, but I’m also well aware of how much of a pain it actually is!

Add to the fact that I reapply all over every hour as I'm terrified my baby girl will get the slightest tinge of red, sometimes I love when the sun doesn’t come out.

Admittedly, the weather has not been the best this year, but on the rare days that I have had to put on lotion, not once have I ever found it enjoyable!

Here are ten reasons why I think applying sun cream is a pain in the bum:

1. The feet stomping at the start
If your little one is anything like mine they’ll kick up a fuss for about twenty minutes before you get to go anywhere near them with the cream.

2. The fact that it goes everywhere
And I mean everywhere. No matter how careful I am it always ends up on the floor or my clothes, and is a nightmare to get off.

3. The greasiness
The cream is so, so greasy and it takes at least an hour before my hands feel like they are back to normal.

4. The waiting for it to dry bit
If you have ever had to wait for your kid’s sun cream to dry before dressing them then you will feel my pain.

5. The stickiness
No matter how long you leave it to absorb there is always a sticky residue, and putting clothes over it is an nightmare!

6. Panicking that I’ve missed a spot
We’ve all seen those pictures of people who got burnt because they missed a spot...

7. The destroyed clothes
The end of the summer is awash with yellow collared T-shirts and jumpers that never comes off.

8. When you put it on and the sun goes away
Spending a good twenty minutes applying sun cream only for the sun to go in is the absolute worst.

9. The greasy hair
It looks like you haven’t washed your child’s hair in a long, long time!

10. When you've to put it on at the beach
Not only does the sand end up in your sandwiches, but be prepared for yelps of pain as you rub a mix of cream and sand onto your little one’s legs.

But it's not all bad; apart from the obvious, there is one good thing about applying the cream – the smell.
