8 ways life is a lot easier now than it was seven years ago

Seven years ago, I was walking around with a faint whiff of baby sick on my top and bags under my eyes, that gave the scariest of Halloween masks a run for their money, but now things are better.

Now I feel like I can take on the world, simply because my daughter is seven and not a baby anymore...

Yes, my days are still hectic, organising things for school each evening is simply two hours of chaos, but it's not like it was. Now I’ve had at least six hours of sleep before waking and I can put my feet up and enjoy a cup of tea in the evening, and while I loved her adorable little one-year-old head life is so much easier when you aren’t walking around in a daze!

Here are eight reasons life is a lot easier now that my little girl is not so little anymore:

1. She can get her own breakfast
Sunday morning lie-ins are a real thing now my little lady can actually pour her own cereal and milk.

2. She can dress herself
And while there have been a few arguments over what she can wear on non-uniform days, I can lay her clothes out the night before and they’ll magically appear on her in the morning. This means I actually have time to do my face before work!

3. She doesn’t need me to play with her
Yes, it’s sad that I’m clearly not her only friend anymore, but while she’s out playing with her friends I have an extra 20 minutes to prepare for the next day!

4. She can help me out
Putting clothes away is a lot quicker when there are four hands rather than just two! I usually just let the fact that they are shoved in the drawer go – anything for an easy life!

5. She can brush her own hair
While she can’t quite manage to tie it up in a high pony she can pull it at the nape of her neck, which is good enough for me when we’re rushing.

6. She can actually put away her toys
Not that she does it that often – but it is a time saver when I can coax her enough to bring her teddies from the living room to her bedroom.

7. She can look for her own shoes
We are forever losing her shoes in our house – I don’t know what we do with them – but when you’ve two pairs of eyes looking it a lot quicker.

8. She can eat her own dinner
No more spoon feeding whilst making funny train noises, although I secretly miss this just a tad...
