'I was more anxious about having my gall bladder removed than giving birth to triplets'

This time 24 hours ago I was being prepped for my gall bladder to be removed.

Being in the operating theatre brought back memories to fourteen months ago, but what a different experience this time around was.

Firstly, the operating theatre was empty and I was just being prepped by three staff and it was all very quiet and calm.

However, I definitely felt more anxious about having to be put under general anaesthetic to have my gall bladder removed than being rushed into an operating theatre full of over 20 staff about to have my three babies delivered!

Thankfully, though, after a few deep breaths of oxygen, and some painful injections into my hand, I knew no more from 9.25 until I looked at the clock again at 11.55.

By the time I came around my gall bladder had been safely removed and it was now time for the recovery period.

This is the real painful bit to me though, as I am not allowed to lift the babies for a number of days, so cuddles are rather sparse.

And getting on with normal life is off the agenda for a few weeks.

Going in for the operation, I knew the recovery would be the hardest bit; I miss doing everything for the babies and have to let my husband and mum do the caring for a while.

Thankfully, my mum has come to stay for two weeks so at least I have help while my husband is at work; my in-laws and family have been a great help too and will continue to be, I know.

The babies are at such a great age now. They are pulling up on everything and Rebecca and Elliot can even stand by themselves for a few seconds!

They are very happy and content most of the time and just love exploring, climbing and taking steps around all the furniture.

You can really see their little personalities coming out now and it is great to see the three of them playing, chattering and laughing away.

It will be difficult to resist picking them up over the next few weeks, but, sure, they can almost get up on the sofa themselves so it does make things easier.

They can also climb the stairs themselves too so I don't need to lift them up to bed either - thankfully!

While they are still waking at night for milk but now they can hold their own bottles and have non-leak teats they will feed themselves if you give them a bottle - it's really very easy these days.

And to end on a good note, we are getting nearer to the night they sleep through - finally!
