Reaching the 20-week mark

Had my 20-week scan this week and it was just so amazing to see all the babies' limbs so clearly. The identical twins (Baby 1 and Baby 2) are in my lower tummy and the singleton (Baby 3) is above them so it is nice to know roughly where they are.

It is strange to think the consultant at The Coombe knows what we are having, while we've decided to keep it as a surprise. She really is wonderful and very experienced, so I'm just listening to her advice. She told me that if I am feeling pregnant now, I will feel 'very pregnant' in four weeks, which is when she will be recommending that I go on sick leave to try and limit the risk of preterm labour.

This week I have been starting to think about all the equipment and items that I will need to buy. I am lucky that my two brothers and sister have finished having their own children, so I will get three cot beds from them, phew! There are lots of other essentials that I need to think about though before taking the plunge, like which baby monitor will suit us best and which bouncer can be used from birth as I’ll only ever have two hands. The list goes on and on...

A few weeks ago we stopped a lovely girl on the street who had a Peg Pegero triplet buggy and she was kind enough to let us go to her house to try it out in our car. Any of the buggies we have found online are only available on special order so we don’t have the luxury of ‘test-driving’ it first!

We have a Honda CRV and we really thought that this fellow triplets mum’s buggy would fit easily into the boot; however, we had to take the wheels off the buggy and put it in the boot at a very precise angle, which is not ideal. I haven't ruled it out yet as it is only one of two buggies that I can find that allows the car seats to clip onto it along with normal buggy bassinets/seats. It’s also really easy to use but it was quite long (like a bus!). I am now looking at the Trippy buggy, which has car seat attachments too. I will keep you posted on my research...

Another exciting thing happened this weekend - I actually felt a kick! I had felt some 'flutters,' as people call them, for a week or so but yesterday I had my hand rested on my belly button and felt it being pushed right out, three times. Amazing feeling!
