Young children from disadvantaged backgrounds are more likely to be obese and have poorer diets than their advantaged counterparts. The latest report from the Growing Up in Ireland study found that a gap began to appear in the health of children from different social classes before they reached the age of three. 9% of children living with parents who never worked were obese, compared with 5% of...

Ever since my daughter reached the age of weaning, she was always difficult at eating her food. She would go through stages where she would only pick at her food. A good method I found when spoon feeding her, was to distract her. Tell her to look at something out the window or someone else in the room. This way, when I went to put the spoon in her mouth, she would open it without even thinking...

Hi Mums, My partner and I are taking our little girls away to Lanzarote. It will be their first time on a plane. I have started a list of things I should bring, I am sure there is plenty I am forgetting!! Can you please let me know what I will need from your experiences and any suggestions on how to entertain them on a plane for such a long flight would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I am trying to potty train my little girls it is not going to well. She will hold her pee rather than go on the potty. She was holding herself this morning and I kept on putting her on the potty. She was getting very distressed so I put a nappy on her and she went to the toilet. I am not sure where to go from here! thanks in advance

I don't claim to have the perfect children. And to be fair, I don't know many mums (or dads) who could. And I'm not the perfect mum either, not by a long stretch. But I do have rules. And one of those rules is having manners at the dinner table. I was brought up in a large family, and we always ate as a family, and I remember a few things quite clearly. Firstly, there was never any...

Yeah, I think I know where your mind will go when you read this line…white dress wedding, church and a happily-ever-after couple riding into the sun… Well, I will go on and admit I’m a bit of a romantic and I still have this very vow saved for safe keeping along with our wedding invitation and our wedding photo album somewhere. But it’s not there that my mind goes where I hear this...
