I was super careful on my first pregnancy ... practically lived in a bubble, but afterwards, everyone told me I was off the wall and way too overprotective, so I decreased the defcon status for baby no.2 ... but now I can't stop feeling guilty about it. So here's my confession .... I smoked – awful I know. This was most definitely not intentional. I wasn’t aware that I was pregnant and...

Prompted by the Denny Take a Closer Look competition currently being run by Mummy Pages I thought I wouldtake a closer look at our families life and the wonderful little things that happen everyday! It occured to me when Carlie was about 6 months pld that I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be congratulating some one on burping . It's funny how these little things our baba's do seem so...

There’s always a lot of hulla-balloo about prepping for a wedding. I was part of it. And I admit to succumbing to the need to diet to fit into that dress. I didn’t use any specific diet plan, but I did watch what I was eating, and I upped my exercise regime. It was partly successful … I did fit into the dress – but there was a LOT of spanx-like assistance! And that’s ok with me. Would I...

I am like the walking dead.... absolutely shattered! My floors need washing, the whole house needs tidying and there is a pile of recycling that needs to go into the wheely bin but it will wait until tomorrow. Mammy needs to get into her PJ's and cuddle up with a book (I'll probably get through 2 or 3 pages before passing out). Work was actually so much easier than I thought. I look forward to...

Just how does a mum, or a mum-to-be decide what is best when faced with a terrible case such as this? At 6 months pregnant, 32 year old Sarah Brook was told by doctors that her terrible backache and nausea was in fact bowl cancer, which was being worsened by pregnancy hormones and needed immediate treatment. Doctors said her pregnancy hormones were accelerating the growth of the tumour and that...

I am in a conundrum of sorts over an issue that happened at a local playground. Children can be a bit rowdy at times so I always have a close eye on them when we are in public settings. I never allow my children to be rude, take toys from other children, or bully children around them - not that it doesn't happen, of course it does, but I'm always there to correct the behaviour. The problem...

I enjoy a drink as much as the next person, but it doesn’t define my life, and I see no need for it to be a regular part of what I do socially. It’s incredibly important to me how my child relates to alcohol and I never want it to be an integral part of her life either – yes she’ll want to try it when she gets older, but it will not rule her life, and it should not enter into her being at...

My handbag is sacred. My husband knows not to touch it - in fact, if I'm looking for something from it, or if he is looking for something from it, he hands it to me. I don't remember ever instructing him to do this, he just does it. (He's awesome like that.) Also, my dad doesn't go through my mum's bag - he hands it to her just like my hubby does for me. I've never really...

We survived it well it's more accurate to say Mammy survived and baby had a ball of a time & didn't even notice that mammy wasn't around. I got up extra early so we could get in loads of cuddles before we made the trek to our childminder and I'd have time to spare to spend a little time there and slip away quitely. It was nice that I was starting a new job, I think it was more of a distraction...

In my ignorance and to my shame, I didn't realise this was still going on. Perhaps I forgot, or perhaps a function of self preservation means I do my best to forget about it and move on with my life. And then it rears its ugly head right back up again. And it truly is ugly. And I'm shocked all over again. Who could do this? Last week, a baby girl who was just over a week old was been left...
