So the dip of the roller coaster on Friday improved on Saturday. The babies have been wriggling around so much since I arrived in The Coombe, although I wasn't sure if it was because they loved it in here or hated it. My amazing consultant came in on her day off - and the start of her holiday - to scan me on Saturday morning as she didn't want me to wait until Monday. I am pleased to say...

I'm discovering that life when expecting triplets is a roller coaster. We had our worries with one of the babies having too much fluid behind its neck earlier in the pregnancy, but after that resolved itself, I seemed to be taking it all in my stride. However, the last two weeks have certainly felt like I'm stuck on a some scary theme park ride. Week 24 and I am told Baby One and Two are...

The summer brings with it a whole host of emotions for SAHMs and working mothers; the school closes, routines go out the window and it can either be the best time or an absolute disaster. As the doors close behind students, many mums can be heard bickering and moaning about how much harder the holidays are, and being a working mum myself, with a primary school age child, I am all too aware of the...

I remember telling myself that once I become a mum, the little things wouldn’t faze me. In my headier younger days, I recall thinking that once I sacrificed myself to childbirth in all its messy, gooey glory I’d be able for anything. Being told I’d 'check my dignity at the door’ before my first birth must have instilled a false sense of confidence that I’d emerge someone who would be...

So I had my steroids on Monday and Tuesday and as advised, I enjoyed two sleepless nights. Getting me in practice for what’s in store once the little ones are born, I suppose! I am experiencing really bad heartburn and thank goodness I mentioned it to my consultant because she recommended a prescription-Zantac, which has really helped. I went back for a scan on Wednesday to see how these...

I can remember, I must have been about eight or so when I figured that I had narrowly missed out on having sallow skin. Skin without freckles or red patches that actually turned brown in the sun. Brown. God, I wanted to be brown SO badly. And at that age it was becoming apparent that it was never, ever going to happen. I was a child of a fair, freckled father and a dark haired, sallow skinned...

Oh yes, my friends, this is one of those big unpleasant moments of toddlerhood. It's not easy - actually in our case it was absolute hell - but I can say that with some sheer determination, it is possible to rid your house of soothers. It won't easy and you probably won't sleep for a few nights but if I can do it then so can you. You just need to stand your ground! Oh and do it on a...

This week, I had my 24-week scan and took all my maternity benefit forms to be filled in by the doctor. I also took in my health and safety leave forms. I don’t get sick pay from my company but I might be entitled to health and safety leave because working in general is putting me at risk of pre-term labour. Fingers crossed my application gets approved! At the scan, everything seemed to be...

Now don’t get me wrong, being a mum is one of the most rewarding and important jobs that I have, but it is definitely a challenging one! While I love every aspect about it, if I'm being honest, there are a few things that are made a lot harder when you have a little one to take care of! 1. Enjoying a lie-in This is the first weekend in a long time where there is no early morning call for...
